Blackshaw Interior Design was commissioned to completely redesign, renovate and furnish a one-level, front line villa in Las Brisas Golf, Nueva Andalucia. This tired, dated property was in desperate need of updating and it’s current floor plan did not flow or function well as a living space.
The brief was to execute an open flowing, modern home that connected the living room, dining room and kitchen and accentuated the beautiful views from the terrace to the pool, garden and vistas beyond.
To visualise the proposed internal distribution changes, 2D and 3D plans were drawn up, along with style guides offering options for flooring, kitchen and bathroom suites and windows. Visuals for the exterior of the villa were also provided to bring to life the possibilities of how the property could be transformed externally.
Initially the first task was to remove some of the interior walls that were stifling the living spaces, to create an open plan living space that made the most of the natural light. Light, wood-finish porcelain tiles were then used throughout the property in conjunction with white carpentry to give a classic yet modern feel.
The bathroom suites and fixtures and fittings were all chosen to provide a real wow factor. Tiles were also added to the master bathroom, creating a feature wall to complement the free standing bath.
The bedrooms were again sympathetically designed to tie in with the modern, contemporary style adapted throughout the house, using a mixture of linen and satin materials to add depth and luxury.
The now open plan lounge, kitchen and dining room were co-ordinated to blend seemlessly into one another, and changeable ambient LED lighting was incorporated to provide a variety of moods. Other features such as the unique fireplace, hanging chair and classic yet contemporary furniture, really made this house a home.
The exterior of the property was transformed by adding squared off arches and huge plinths to give the property a sense of grandeur. In addition the exterior roofline, walls and entrance were all given a clean, modern geometry. Modern wall mounted fountains, lit shallow ponds, seating areas, orchards and landscaping were also incorporated to create a beautiful outdoor space where the owners could make the most of Spain’s Mediterranean climate.
The furnishings are all coordinated to fit in with the style of the new house, with lots of communication between ourselves and the clients. Accents colors, luxury silks and velvets, against cool lacquers and dark black or grey oak wood. We buy furniture from all over the world, and if we can’t find what we are looking for we make it.
